Farmer Tim's Vegetables in Dudley, MA is hiring for several positions for the 2021 season:

  • Assistant Farm Manager

  • Farm Crew

Farmer Tim's Vegetables is a growing farm entering its seventh season. It is located on a 92-acre historic piece of farmland in Dudley, Massachusetts. Farmer Tim's operates a 20-week CSA with on farm pick up in Dudley and boxed shares in Belmont and Webster, as well as a  farm stand in Dudley and a weekly farm stand  in Belmont, MA. At Farmer Tim's our goal is to provide high quality food for our community while maintaining transparency in our growing practices.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: Farm Crew - full or part-time

In 2021 we are looking for 2 new farm crew members to add to our team. Farm crew members will assist in all aspects of production- greenhouse management, direct seeding, transplanting, harvesting, weeding, washing/packing, fertility management, and irrigation. Ideal candidates will have experience with physically demanding labor, an interest in sustainable agriculture, and a positive attitude. Previous farm experience as a volunteer or full/part time staff is great, but is not a requirement.

Hours:

  • Full-time Farm Crew will work Monday-Friday from April to mid-October.

Work hours are Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4PM with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.

  • Part- time Farm crew will work the same hours but 3-4 days a week

Full-time crew members will be required to rotate weekend farm responsibilities (additional paid hours) so that each crew member has duties approximately once per month (from April to October). 

Time off requests must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Time off requests of more than 5 full days during the growing season cannot be accommodated. 

 

Requirements:

·      Ability to work outside in all types of weather (heat, humidity, rain, wind, cold, etc)

·      Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly

·      Good communication and listening skills

·      Attention to detail and desire to learn efficient techniques

·      Desire to learn and understand farm systems

·      Ability to take direction well and willingness to learn from constructive feedback

·      Good attitude and positive outlook

·      Strong work ethic

·      Enjoyment working in a small crew of 4-5 workers and occasional volunteers

·      Ability to do repetitive, time-consuming, and detailed work for hours at time

 

Compensation:

Part-time crew members, pay will be based on experience (between $13-$14/hr)

Full-time crew members ($15-16/hr)

Full-time crew members are also eligible for no cost housing at the farm- shared with other farm staff. 

Farm crew members receive free produce from the farm and the opportunity to participate in farm apprentice trainings with EmassCRAFT.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Assistant Farm Manager 

In 2021 we are looking for an Assistant Manager to assist our Farm Manager with our growing operations. Ideally a candidate will be able to commit to 2 full farm seasons with the opportunity for a co-manager position after one season . We are interested in a candidate with a minimum of 2 years of farming experience at a diversified production farm.  The Assistant Manager will be a primary lead for leading crew members in post-harvest fieldwork  tasks and will assist in all aspects of production- greenhouse management, direct seeding, transplanting, harvesting, weeding, washing/packing, fertility management, and irrigation. Ideal candidates will have experience with physically demanding labor, an interest in sustainable agriculture, and a positive attitude. 

 

Hours:

The assistant manager will average ~40-45 hours per week from April to November.

From April to October work hours are Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4PM with a one-hour unpaid lunch break. The assistant manager will also staff one CSA pick up day a week, requiring work until 6:15PM. 

Each full time crew member will be required to rotate weekend farm responsibilities so that each crew member has duties approximately once per month (from April to October). 

Any time off requests must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Time off requests of more than 4 full days during the growing season cannot be accomodated.

Compensation:

Competitive salary rate based on experience.

Profit sharing percentage for managers that commit to two full farm seasons

Farm crew members receive free produce from the farm and the opportunity to participate in farm apprentice trainings with EmassCRAFT.

Housing is available on site in a rustic farmhouse at no cost.
